Well, one doesn't
usually make a living shooting images like these, but to
be able to leverage your professional skills for your own
enjoyment, now that's a gift.
If you caught my blurb from the Architecture section you
will recognize the first two images here as being "high
dynamic range". They resemble illustrations or paintings
because HDR photography is not bound by the restraints of
silver based analog imaging and photographers are now
free to capture the range of values that illustrators and
painters have been doing for centuries.
